To reduce configuration time and the number of diagrams, IGSS V5 will support template diagrams. A template diagram is designed to be used when you want to create multiple diagrams which are identical with the exception of the underlying process components. The diagram itself will include all the static elements and the object descriptors (the graphical display of an IGSS object). All the underlying process components will be created as Group objects in the configuration. An example could be a configuration with 30 identical motors all requiring the same parameters.
When the configuration is running, the operator will get a choice when he enters the template diagram. All the Group objects which have been designed to be placed on the diagram will be listed. The operator chooses the relevant Group object and the appropriate process components are now bound to the descriptors.
