IGSS thin client support enables monitoring and control of plants worldwide. Plant operators use a standard web browser to access the IGSS Internet Portal on the IGSS server PC to execute operations routines and monitoring tasks from any location with Internet access.
The IGSS Internet Portal can also be reached from a Personal Data Assistant (PDA), a communicator or a cell phone. No extra software installation is required client-side.
Each individual operator can customize the Portal to his own needs, thus allowing quick navigation to the process components and data demanding particular attention. In addition, operator personnel are able to send commands, change setpoints and generate reports, i.e. all the same functions are available that are present in the ordinary IGSS SCADA system. Security is implemented using the IGSS User Administration module together with a firewall protection scheme.
