Backing up the configuration and data files is an important aspect in a running IGSS configuration. The data files in particular may take up considerable space on the servers in larger installations. In IGSS the user can limit the lifetime of the active data files in the system, but the old data files must be preserved for documentation purposes.
Up to now a 3rd party software package could be used to obtain this functionality, but the IGSS community has requested an integrated backup facility. The new backup facility will allow the user to back up the following file types:
- Log files
- Alarm files
- Data reduction values (.bcl files)
- Hour, day and month values
