Scenario 1: Simple protectionUsing the IGSS Portal functionality involves risk if the process is to be accessed via the Internet from outside the LAN. With the Portal in place, the IGSS server becomes a web server on the Internet just like any other web server. And then it, too, will be subject to attempts at unauthorized access and to virus infection. Therefore, before implementing a Portal solution, we recommend that security considerations and strategy be clearly defined.
