Purpose
This combination allows you to combine values from two analog objects in a needle display. The two analog values will then determine the length of the needle and the direction of the needle, respectively.
Originally, this function was designed for ship supervision, where the force and the direction of the ship can be monitored on one display.
How it works
First, you define the two analog objects you want to combine. Then you open the properties dialog box of the object that you want to determine the direction of the needle, click the Data Management Definitions tab and select the other analog object in the Connect To drop-down list.
Now, you can combine the values of the two objects in a needle display. Any change in the values of the two objects will be reflected in the display.
Example
Assume that we want to monitor the force, Power, and the direction, Dir, of a ship.
First, we create Dir with the appropriate properties. Then we define Power as a circular display, then we click the Data Management Definitions tab and select Dir in the Connect To drop-down list.
A change in the value of Power will now change the direction of the needle, and a change in the value of Dir will change the length of the needle.
The circular display may look like this.
