The following procedure assumes
that the template contains all properties except the specific bit
offset for the object you are about to define.
Start the
definition of a new digital, analog, table or counter object by selecting
the relevant command in the Objects
menu.
In the Object Browser, select the relevant
type and the template name.
Under Create new object, type a unique name
for the new object and an optional description.
Click OK. The object properties dialog box appears.
Click the
Edit Mapping tab and type the
specific PLC address in the Bit Offset
field.
Click the
Symbol Definition tab and select
the desired color and symbol.
If you
are defining a digital object, you must apply a color and a symbol for
each state.
If you
are defining a digital object, you can optionally do one of the following:
Check Copy symbols to template to save your
color and symbol selections as part of the template.
Click Copy Symbols from Template to use the
color and symbol selections from the template.
Click OK and position the symbol.
Tip
By using the color and symbol selections from the
template you save descriptors as only one descriptorA descriptor is the graphical display of an object. IGSS includes many types of descriptors including:
- Built-in standard symbols
- Animated symbols (Symbol Factory library)
- Graphics and animation
- Drawing symbols
- Windows controls
- ActiveX controls
An IGSS object can be represented with different descriptors on different diagrams. is used for each
object using the template properties - regardless of the number of different
states. Note, though, that using descriptor templates requires that the
symbols representing the individual states are positioned on
top of each other.
