Embedded alarm list

Introduction

In IGSS, operators will normally handle alarms in the Alarm program. However, with the alarm list descriptor you can embed the alarm list directly on a process diagram. The operator will thus be able to view alarm details related to the current process diagram without having to enter the Alarm program.

The embedded alarm list can be used in many different scenarios, for instance:

Embedded in an overview diagram showing alarms from the entire area
Embedded on a specific diagram showing alarms from that diagram only

In this help file, we describe two practical scenarios that we feel are representative for the functionality.

Features of the alarm list descriptor

Using the alarm list descriptor you can:

Embed an alarm list on a diagram
Set up the column order and sort order of the alarm list
Apply alarm filters to the list and allow the operator to choose between different filters

What’s in it for the operator ?

The big advantage for the operator is that he can view the alarms in context. When he’s looking at a diagram, only alarms related to that part of the process will be visible. In other words, he need not worry about the remaining functionality in the Alarm program. The operator can also acknowledge alarms directly in the embedded alarm list.

If required, the operator can even resize the embedded alarm list allowing him to view more alarms than in the original setup.
