Overview: Connecting standard descriptors to IGSS objects

How it works

As an alternative to standard symbols from the symbol file you can now connect IGSS objects to standard descriptors and vice versa. When connected, the appearance of the standard descriptor can be linked to the value or state of the connected object. You can, for example, make a line blink, if the connected object is in alarm.

By using Windows controls, you can provide well-known and standardised controls to the operator. You can, for example, show command buttons which the operator can click to send digital commands.

Connecting and disconnecting

You can connect standard descriptors to IGSS objects as follows.

If you later want to disconnect the standard descriptor from the IGSS object, simply right-click the object and select Disconnect in the pop-up menu.

Descriptor properties

The number of properties available for a standard descriptor depends on whether the descriptor is connected to an IGSS object or not. When connected, all property groups with a name starting with Bindings … will contain properties that are directly linked to the connected object.
