Creating new objects

When you want to create a new object, you do one of the following:

Once you've activated a menu item, the Object Browser appears. The tree view in the left pane has a default setup which in most cases is very appropriate for creating new objects. The tree view shows the following structure:

1st level The configuration name

2nd level  The areas of the configuration

3rd level The object types available in IGSS

4th level The templates defined for the above object types

You start by choosing the area in which you want to create the object. Typically this will be the current area, but you can choose another one, if required.

Next step is to choose the relevant object type and, optionally, a template if you want to base the object on a template.

Finally, you will move to the bottom of the dialog box in the Create new object area to enter the name and description of the new object. Click Create and you have a new object.

The figure below shows an example where we are defining a new analogue object called q5 in the Global area. The object is based on the FLOW template.
