Scenario 3: Linking to an SQL Server database

Scenario description

In the scenario we will demonstrate how you extract data from an SQL Server database. We will work with the sample database, Northwind, which comes with your SQL Server software. Although the database does not contain process-relevant data, it still illustrates how you connect to an SQL Server database.

The Northwind database includes a number of stored procedures which correspond to database queries. We will give the operator access to two different stored procedures: "Customer Order History" and "Customer Order Details" (click on the link below to see the final diagram in the Supervise program).

When you select a stored procedure, you can filter the data further by entering a parameter value. This is also shown in the scenario.
