Base Units dialog box

What is a base unit ?

A base unit is a user-defined unit that is member of a units set. The base units are the units you receive from the PLC. Once you have defined a base unit, you can select it in the Units drop-down list when defining an analog, table or counter object.

Creating, editing and deleting base units

Select Edit ® Base Units to open the dialog box below. You can now create, edit and delete the base units for this configuration. The list shows all defined base units.

Clicking New brings up the following dialog box in which you enter the name of the unit and the target units set.

Converting base units

If you want to convert a base unit in one units set to a derived unit in another set, you can do this from the Unit Conversion dialog box.

What happens to a configuration converted from an older version ?

When you convert a version 8 or IGSS v2 configuration to v3, all the defined units are included in the default SI system and can be chosen for any new analog, table or counter object.
