Overview: Connecting IGSS types

Purpose

By connecting IGSS objects, you can combine their characteristics and thus expand the functionality of an IGSS object.

Use

By using the Connect To function, you can -

Open one or more diagram or graph windows when the state of a digital object changes (digital to diagram or graph)
Let a table object inherit the alarm limits of an analog object (table to analog)
Show the values of two analog objects in a needle display . One value determines the length of the needle, the other the direction of the needle (analog to analog)
Show table values instead of state names for a digital object (digital to table)

How it works

When you want to connect two IGSS objects, you simply open the properties dialog box of the object to which you want to connect another object, then click the Data Management Definitions tab and select the appropriate object in the Connect To drop-down list. Only the allowed IGSS types will be available.
