Overview: Define object appearance

An IGSS object can be represented in multiple ways on process diagrams.

Typically, an object is represented by a symbol from the symbol file, a standard display type (bar display, rectangular field, etc.) or a standard descriptor (drawing object, Windows control, etc.). Along with the symbol or descriptor, two text boxes are usually shown. One holds the name and/or description of the object, the other holds the state or value of the object.

The topics listed below describes how you change the appearance of the object symbol and caption. For details about how you choose the appropriate symbol or descriptor for the individual object types, search for the object type you are defining, for example, analog object.

You can change the appearance as follows:

Object caption change the contents and formatting of the caption.
Object edge show or hide the object edges when you move the cursor over the object symbol.
Popup descriptions show or hide popup descriptions (ToolTips) when you move the cursor over the object symbol.
Show All States show all states of a digital object. By default, only the current state of the object is shown, but you may want to show the symbols for all states to ensure that they are positioned correctly.
Disable operator access to objects prevent the operator from selecting the symbol.
