What is a bar display?

Definition

A bar display is an area in which a dynamic column which reflect the process value of an analog object or columns representing the individual values of a table object may be positioned.

Use

Bar displays can be used to:

Show the current value of an analog object in a very visual and intuitive way compared with a traditional symbol. The operator need only glance at the bar to view the current value and its position relative to the alarm limits. Typically, a bar display is used to show, for example, the level of a tank or a container.
Show the individual values of a table object in several columns. This allows operators to view several related values in one chart. A typical example is to show a number of temperature gauges placed at different locations within a container.
