The key dialog boxes

Introduction

When you’re creating and working with Groups according to the procedures in this help file, there will be lots of references to the key dialog boxes. This topic gives you an overview of those dialog boxes.

The table below tells you how to access the key dialog boxes and explains their functionality.

Group Manager

Select Edit ® Group Manager.

Create, edit and delete Groups.
Copy a Group to the Clipboard or export it to a file.
Define object name and PLC address substitution rules (the Paste Options tab).

Export Group

In the Group Manager dialog box, click the Export button or
in the File menu, select Export.

Name and save the export file as a configuration group file (.cgf). The file can then later be imported into another configuration by selecting File ® Import.

Object Browser

In the Group Manager dialog box, click the Browse button.

Select objects to be included as direct members of the Group. You must use the Object Browser if you want to include another Group into the current Group.
Also if you want to include objects with no graphical reference (for instance, templates), you must use the Object Browser.

Paste Special

Select Edit ® Paste Special.

Determine the paste options for the Group, including:

  • Paste as new objects or paste as references
  • Paste to new diagram
  • Automatic or manual renaming of conflicting object names
  • Paste report formats

Resolve Paste Conflicts

When a Group is pasted or imported, the dialog box appears as described here.

Resolve name conflicts by:

  • Pasting with the same name
  • Pasting using an existing object name
  • Pasting using a new name created on the fly
