Define name and address substitution rules (Paste Options tab)
Name substitution
If you intend to reuse the Group members for replication of similar
diagrams, you can save lots of time by carefully planning a consistent
object naming convention. In "Scenario
1: Replication of pump stations", all object names are prefixed
with “PST01-“ for the first pump station, “PST02-“ for the second pump
station, etc.
Once the naming convention is in place, you can use the intelligent
name and address substitution rules.
Procedure:
- Click the
Paste Options tab in the Group Manager dialog box.
- In the Modify name group, select the Enable check box.
- In the Naming convention field, type the naming
mask that you want to apply when replicating diagrams. All object names
that match the mask can be substituted on-the-fly. When you paste or import
the Group, you will be prompted for the substitutes that you define here.
- You can define
up to three sets of substitutes in the mask.
In Scenario 1, the naming mask is PST##-*.
This means –
- PST The object name must start
with “PST”.
- ## Followed by two characters that
you can substitute on the fly. For instance, you could replace “01” with
“02” in the object name.
- -* The object name must end with
“-“ followed by any number of characters.
- The
above naming mask would match the name, PST01-p1,
and you would then be able to substitute “01” with “02”.
Address substitution
When you replicate process diagrams, you also need to substitute parts
of the PLC address. In some cases, you need to replace the driver name,
in other cases you need to replace the node number, etc. When you paste
a Group, you will be prompted for the items that you select here.
Procedure
- In the Modify address mapping group, select
the relevant boxes as described below:
- Driver To
be prompted for a new driver name when the Group is pasted.
- Node To
be prompted for a new node number when the Group is pasted.
- Data
Group To be prompted for a new data group in the PLC address.
- Word
Offset To be prompted for a new word offset in the PLC address.
- Bit
Offset To be prompted for a new bit offset in the PLC address.
- The Group
is now almost ready for replication. The next step is to decide on the
method of use as follows:
