In
the Objects menu, select Command Field or press ctrl
+ 2.
You
can also right-click at the desired position, select New
in the pop-up menu, then Command Field.
Do
one of the following:
If
you are defining a new object, go to the next step.
If
you want to apply the command field to an existing digital object, select
its name in the Name drop-down
list, click OK and go to step
11.
If
you want to base the object on a template, select its name in the Templates drop-down list.
Type
a unique name and an optional description.
Check
the Name and Value
boxes to show this information along with the command field.
Click
OK. The digital object properties
dialog box appears.
The
number of tabs available depend on whether you based the object on a template.
However, the remaining steps in this procedure are the same, irrespective
of whether you based the object on a template or not.
On
the Change State tab, select the
state you want to be the initial one and, optionally, type an analog value
in the Free Value
box to connect that value to the digital object.
Click
the Data Management Definitions tab
to define how you want to collect and log data.
The
command field and object caption appear. If you used the right-click menu,
the field appears at the position where you clicked, otherwise it appears
in the upper left corner of the diagram.
Position
and resize the command field, as required.
