A configuration contains a number of separate folders. Here is a list of the most important ones:
|
Configuration root folder |
holds all the files related to the configuration (e.g. the main configuration file (*.elm), the descriptor database (*.dsc), etc.) |
|
Configuration report folder (\r subfolder) |
holds all files related to the reports and the log files (base class files, report databases, report status, etc.)
|
|
Configuration backup folder (\7tbackup subfolder) |
holds a backup copy of the three key configuration files, <MyConfig>.elm, <MyConfig>.dsc, <MyConfig>.mdb from the latest successful configuration installation. See details below. |
|
Compressed graphics files folder (\Bmp32 subfolder) |
holds any graphics files that have been converted to the compressed format, *.gbm, which is used to optimise the screen updating in IGSS Supervise. When you start IGSS Supervise, you will automatically be asked whether you want to compress any graphics files that have been changed, since you last compressed your graphics file. This feature is only available in IGSS Supervise. |
Some files are created as soon as you create the configuration, while others require that the Data Collection engine and the Supervise program have been started (base class files, log files, etc.). The files are automatically updated.
Backup recommendations
To ensure that all data related to a configuration is backed up, it is recommended that all external files related to the configuration (for example, background pictures) are stored in the configuration root folder and that the report folder is created as a subfolder of the configuration root folder.
The following list provides an overview of the most important configuration files.
Many configuration file names include the name of the configuration. To make the file names as realistic as possible, it is assumed in the following example that we have created a configuration called Demo. Click any of the files to get a detailed description.
